Keren E. Gesund

Keren E. Gesund has extensive litigation expense.  She has successfully defended and prosecuted claims against debt collectors, banks, credit reporting agencies, subcontractors, manufacturers and consumers who have suffered harassment or injury.  She handles contentious business and commercial cases for both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court.  

Keren works to help clients avoid and respond to regulatory investigations and issues that arise before state and federal supervisory agencies, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Federal Reserve, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and state banking regulators, as well as self-regulatory organizations such as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions (OFI).  Keren has comprehensive banking and finance law practice experience.  She advises and represents borrowers and lenders not only with respect to lending and regulatory compliance, but also with respect to fiduciary activities, securitizations, payment systems, electronic banking, data security, and risk management.

Keren has substantial knowledge of the laws and regulations pertaining to consumer lending, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and the various regulations that implement these laws, as well as relevant state laws and regulations and any pre-emption issues surrounding those state laws and regulations. Keren is uniquely situated to understand both sides of the conflict, and prepared to address common mistakes made by debt collection agencies. 

Keren grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She graduated from law school in 2007 from the University of California at Davis and then returned to Las Vegas, Nevada to practice general civil litigation. In 2011, Keren moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and started her legal career in New Orleans at Sessions, Fishman, Nathan, and Israel. Later in 2014 partnered with Carrie Pailet to form Gesund & Pailet, APLC.
