Mahalie LeFranc Kyzar

Associate Attorney

Born in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Mahalie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College at Louisiana State University (LSU), graduating with full honors in 2017. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Paul M. Hebert (LSU) Law Center in 2020, where she also received a Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law. While in law school, Mahalie clerked at Shows, Cali & Walsh in Baton Rouge, where she gained her first experience in hurricane litigation, representing public bodies, and working with campaign finance and election law.

Upon graduation, she was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar and began clerking for the judges of the 20th Judicial District Court, in and for the Parishes of East and West Feliciana. Following her clerkship, she entered private practice at Kinchen, Walker, Bienvenu, Bargas Reed & Helm in Baton Rouge. There, she focused primarily on insurance defense, as well as a range of other civil matters including successions, corporate litigation, property disputes, and professional disciplinary defense.

In 2025, Mahalie joined LaFleur & Laborde as an Associate, where she continues to build her practice and serve clients in a variety of practice areas from our Baton Rouge office. While her caseload is primarily focused on insurance defense, Mahalie enjoys complex litigation in all forms. She has represented clients in numerous municipal, parish, district, and federal courts across Louisiana. When time allows, she enjoys pro bono work which allows her to serve both her community and profession.
